A tourist died after being struck by lightning on a Florida beach last week.
A 29-year-old Colorado man, who was visiting the area on his honeymoon, died after the incident on New Smyrna Beach on Friday, according to a report from NBC affiliate WESH.
He was standing in ankle-deep water at the time of the incident. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition after bystanders performed CPR.
Director of Volusia County Beach Safety, Tammy Malphurs, confirmed on Monday that the lightning strike victim, identified as Jake Rosencranz, died from his injuries.
Malphurs said the storm itself was miles away from the shore at the time of the incident.
Two additional people were struck by lightning that same day at the Venetian Bay golf course, according to the City of New Smyrna Beach. Neither person was hospitalized.
